The cloth
For an ordinary afternoon that still wants a finished layer, this is narrow stripes in sage and a deeper shade, cut as a covered duster. The velour stays opaque. High stand collar, zipped closed from the throat. A covered zip closes from the collar toward the hem and is meant to stay up. Two ruffle tiers sit just above the hem. They add shape, and they do not shorten it. The hem falls to the ankle and still covers past mid-calf. It is a layer with room, sized the way the rest of the house is sized.
Plush stretch velour in sage. The pile stays opaque where the cloth moves. The stripe sits in the cloth, not on a thin ground.
